Hey gang! So welcome your newest KITT enthusiast to the group! My wife finally agreed to let me begin working on my own KITT restoration. I've already got the car and have begun working on whatever I can afford at the moment (BOY is it expensive to create). And I've barely started!
In my travels through the web, I've come across lots of KR forums, sites, and sales. I'm so excited about this opportunity that I don't want to make any mistakes along the way. So i'd love to hear from you guys as to what will make my project a success. Any folks you'd recommend doing business with? Anything about working on the car in general I should think about before diving into to something major? Whatever...I am all ears.
Thanks for any experiences and insights you can provide to help my project a success.
Joe

Brenon for electronics ( www.knight-f2k4.com/ ), Billy Gunter for fiberglass ( www.knightdesigns.com/index.html ), and other things, Ken Glenn ( www.wraithinnovations.com/ )is also very good at making a few parts for the exterior. Mark Puette makes license plates and sells a few other parts, Eric Thomson and Brian Thone sell overlays for the dash and may also offer a few other things as well, all are good people with reputable businesses in this community. There a few people on here and other boards who have a wealth of experience on these cars, just browse the forums and you'll probably find a thread that holds the answer and if not just ask. Welcome aboard, see ya around Buck

Welcome to the craziness. First off take your time. This is not a cheap hobby. I'am sure you are going to be on some type of budget. Most of us do the exteriour first and work on the inside later. Best thing to do is spend so much per year. This hopefully will keep down the flak you are going to get from family members.

Yeah - I've learned pretty darn quick a few things:
a) parts are VERY expensive b) certain things like the wheels are near impossible to find c) waiting for a nose will be a lot longer than I expected d) working on these cars is a PAIN in the .....
If anyone else has any suggestions or places to go, would love to hear it. Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Welcome... Agreed with what was said... & just adding another name, Don Colie... He makes complete dashes, etc... if you don't have the skill to put it all together when bought separately from other vendors... I have his 4th season dash and it is a work of art. I also have many products from the people mentioned above too...

There have been afew bumpers in the classifieds lately on some of the kitt replica sites. So if you are in a hurry for one of those. Shouldn't be too much trouble getting one. Unfortunatly some of us have fallen on hard times. And have been forced to sell their dreams.

Yeah I hear you Nelson. It's actually a miracle I'm even able to do this right now...and I just hope I'm able to continue. I have a two-year old baby with another one coming down the road at some point, so my thinking was to try to do it NOW before the kids get a bit older (thus more expensive). I guess time will tell, eh?
THANK RAF for Don Colie's name. I did see him around, and was just a little concerned that his prices seemed much higher than many others. But I do hear he does great work...in line with your comment as well. So I'm up in the air as to whether or not I'll physically be able to use, or should I say, "afford" him.
