Hey guys,
I just purchased a nose from Marks Custom Kits and have now begun looking for scanners. In hindsight, I think I should've looked for scanners FIRST...because I didn't realize it, but they seem to come in different lengths. I'm unsure of Marks side-to-side dimensions for the nose opening, but he sells a scanner that is 23.5" long. So I'm assuming the opening is that large too (have sent him an email confirming).
Thing is, I'm really liking the Lectric scanner, and their site says it'll fit openings of 19-21" long. Sooo....what should I do? If I get a scanner that is a few inches smaller than the actual opening itself, will that look bad? Is there something I could do to 'blend' everything in? Or are the lectric scanners big enough for a 23" opening?
And does anyone have any vids of the MCK or Lectric scanners? Particularly I'm interested in the trailing effect and how well these 'sounds' play on the lectric one.
Thanks everyone. Joe

Brenon IS Lectric Enterprises. I can tell you from the personal experience of owning one that his are top notch units. The scanner bar itself was made extremely well, and the trailing effect is awesome. He offers an LED version that uses less power, but I feel the trailing effect isn't like the effect you get with regular bulbs. An LED is "quicker" to light and turn off (Almost instant), while a normal light bulb has that "lag time" when the filiment of the bulb has to cool off. That's your trailing effect right there. Although Brenon has made the LED bar look pretty good, I'm still convinced if the trailing effect is a concern for you, it'd be better to run regular bulbs. Mine had 55 watt halogen bulbs (think Blazer foglight bulbs) and they were blindingly bright!
The sounds of Brenon's (at least mine) was a really nice addition. I was building a KARR, so Brenon added the KARR scanner sound to mine instead of the KITT scanner sound. His also has a bunch of different scan patterns as well.
Mark's scanner has a nice trailing effect, and it plays the part. But unless I'm mistaken, that's really all it does, goes back and forth, and you can control the scan speed. I've seen his scanner installed with a Don Colie nose, so I know there really isn't that much difference in bar length.
I think for the money, you can't beat Brenon's. Mine was a prior generation model, so you might want to e-mail him with your concerns about bar length and features. He'll get back to you. I wrote to him at length before I ever purchased mine. Understand too if he doesn't get back to you the same day, he's a busy guy. With the addition of dash electronics and other things he's working on, I'm sure time is of great value to him.

Thank you guys! I definitely agree his bar seems really awesome. I've already reached out to Brennon and will be anxious to hear what he says about the size in particular. Appreciate your insights as always!

Yes you can't go wrong with one of Brennon's halogen scanners. And I do believe the light bars are now factory made. Now about that MCK nose. I have seen one in person and didn't like it at all. It was too much like the shark style nose he used to make.

Well - looks like I'll be going with KIDD (Ontario Fibergalss) now for the nose and caps. I hear he does great work.
