Hey guys, i just wanted to say how nice it is to be on a site where people like what you like and enjoy the hobby. I joined a 82-84 firebird page and the minute someone asked for me to post pictures and saw it was k.i.t.t. they started to put down the car and the show. My first post as a new member and that's what I get. They started complaining how stupid knight rider was and the car. I said back that it's still a third gen car and a lot of the car itself is stock. It just looks different just like the formula, gta, and camaro all look different. Yet you don't see them hating on any other of those styles. Well it happened today on the another site I've been on for a long time. A guy said he had a 90 gta that had started to be converted into ki.t.t. and didn't know if he should keep it as is or change it back to a gta. His parts that were on it were jsut stock 92-84 parts and I told him it was just up to him on what look he liked better and showed a picture of mine so he could see the difference. The it started with the k.i.t.t. haters again talking about how the car is "gay porn"and how we've hurt the value of our cars and the stock cars are rare. Whatever. I see them all the time but never see another car like mine. Anyway, I just wanted to vent a little where I knew people understood and actually cared and loved the cars for what they are. Even our replicas are not all the same but we love looking and enjoying each one of them. Thanks guys and gals. ;D

Yey, it's hard to get on some of the sites where people are true hardcore / GM / TA/ Camaro owners. They believe like we do about KR being awesome and being cool. I know you know this, but I have felt your pain and it's like, " Can't we just talk cars" I mean, it's like if I had a Cuda , I would want it to be all stock,(worth more in the end) but then (in my opinion) you have this other guy who wants to cut a hole in the hood for a blower and tub out the rear. To me , that's killin the Cuda for what it is worth, but that is just my opinion. Some guys feel the same about our cars too. They think KR stuff is destroying the car. In a collector enviroment, I wouldn't do it to an anniversary model, or a very unique TA/firebird, but I HAVE seen it done before. Does it irritate me, yes, but at the same time, if the guy who bought it, wants to do that to it, he can/final line...... I had a 1999 1 of 30 original Pace cars for the Daytona 500. I sold it to a guy in New York/ you know what he sent me.......A freakin time slip at the track.... Terrible. Only 30 of those cars out there (oh and Gordon was in my ride) So , goes to show, some people don't care, like myself...... I'm tearing up my nice formula and making it into a KR , but it is also not a 30th anniv. daytona pace car either. I chose the 88 formula to do my KR and if somebody don't like it, they should have bought it, and restored it. Sometimes you have to ignore some post and move on. Some sites are like that though, I agree.... Anyway.... Just a couple of cents from me. (Don't mean $hit, but I feel your pain.....

I'm with you guys! Though I haven't come across any true 'haters' yet, I know they are out there. So I'm actually quite cautious when I'm on the non-KITT forums asking for engine advice or parts because I know as soon as I say I'm doing a KITT conversion, many won't respond. To top it off, my situation is a bit more unique in that I have a Notchback where only 718 were EVER made. Talk about a collectible. I accidentally let that slip to the previous owner when I went to buy the car, and was surprised he didn't seem to care...or if he did, realized it was too late to change his mind. In my mind, I'm restoring this car to the same condition, if not better, than 70% of the Thirdgen owners out there. So I don't flinch at all when people say we're killing the value of the car because we're taking care of the cars even moreso than the average owner.

Did you ask them how they know what gay porn is like? LOL!
These people are idiots. These cars even in pristine condition are not worth anything like what a true collector car is worth. Like Marc, said, you take a real HEMI Cuda and chop it up...Yeah, I could see some people getting upset or saying something, but a 3rd Gen??? Come on!!!
Ok, yes there are a few rare ones, ones worth some money. Turbo Trans Am's, maybe some nice condition MSE's ect. but there nowhere near the statis yet of being anything worth huge money.
Besides that, all the KR stuff is, is accesories...it can all be removed and go back to stock with no problems. You mean to tell me all these people are leaving thier cars in stock condition??? Doubt it!!! Is adding Turbo's ok? How about sub-frame connectors???
Don't get me wrong, if I saw/found a mint condition low mileage '82 black & gold T/A with all the correct stuff on it to make a real KITT, I probobly still wouldn't do it, just because it would be so rare to find a car in such pristine condition, but I really couldn't get mad about it to see someone else do it, nor would I. It's thier car and can do what they want with it. As long as they at least tried to do a good job on it, how could anybody be upset???
I don't know....Some peeps...

Converted a rare, low mileage original Trans Am into my replica. I caught flack for it but I did it anyways. What did "I" get out of it? A Nice killer looking KITT replica. I was heckled only once during a car show. I just stared the guy (KID) down and said, fine, lets see your car. He shut up and walked away. I saw him later that night and found he was driving some POS primered Honda with the coffee can exhaust! MY HERO! LOL.
